There are 2 types of apartment rental in Paris: furnished and unfurnished one. And now you need to think over which sort of it you need for sure. Look at the problem from a few sides. If you want to stay there for a few months it is better for you to rent a furnished apartment, because it will relieve your headache about purchasing various objects in your new home and you will be free to install yourself in a new place of dwelling. But from the other side it will be much more economical to rent a non-furnished apartment if you will remain there for several years. It is simple to go to a market of secondhand things and find some furniture on your taste that will be appropriate for you and your wallet.
Two ways of home renting subsist in France. They are the “do-it-yourself” way and the “agency” method, but selecting the second one you will be to pay some additional money for rent to the agency facilities. There is no other way to get Paris apartment.
The simplest way is to turn to an agency. You should find a company with English speaking employees who will know the language well enough for you to tell them about the accommodation you require. Do some search in the internet, take the yellow pages, and find the part 'immobiliers' (French notion for real property) and begin phoning them. After you've called to an agency you are to tell them 'Bonjour, parlez vous anglais?' ('Bojho, parley voo angley') that means “Good day, do you speak English”. And if the reply is positive, you can tell them what you need. Remember, the payment for Paris short term accommodation can be something between half of a month's rent to that of a full month.
The next “do-it-yourself” variant may be the similar easy as the previous one. Only here you will be preserving quite a great amount of funds. The difficulty what you might have here is to converse with the landlords. It will be better to have some assistance. You may ask for it one of your acquaintances or to meet someone on the internet, for example. If you can't, then of course you are restricting the amount of apartments that you could call on
